001: What your Business is Trying to Teach You
Business = Busy-ness
When you think of the word “business”, what pops into your mind? Do you see busy businessmen in suits? Looming deadlines? Business blocks stopping your growth?
How does it feel? Exciting? Stressful?
These images and feelings are coming from your current belief about business. They are showing you what business means to you right now.
Often, they reflect a pretty common belief that being in business means being on the go, constantly busy, striving and maybe even feeling stressed.
What Your Business Is Teaching You
When we look at its history, (it’s etymology) what’s really interesting about the word “Business”, is that it actually comes from the word ‘bisigness,’. This archaic word was used to mean something like “anxiety”, “being occupied”, “being busy”.
You see, we’ve grown up with a world view of business. Whether it’s been on television or in our interactions with coporations and other businesses, our mind has created a cultural reference for that word and you have created a meaning of it for yourself. A meaning totally unique to you.
It’s no wonder that your meaning of the word business is connected to busy, stress and productivity! It’s possible that this world view is creating an unconscious block to the success of your business.
Business as a word is something that you get to decide how to interpret.
We know that we make our own reality. However, the question is, are you consciously aware of the reality you’ve applied, the meaning you’ve made of business? Do you recognize the power you have to notice and choose your beliefs? Consequently, these beliefs may be blocking the way your business grows and progresses.
Imagine if your business could be a mirror, offering valuable lessons about yourself. What if you could align your business with your true self, leading to greater fulfillment and success? By seeing business through your own, conscious lens and working on the parts of you that resist all that business may have meant to you, you can unlock new potential. Consider the discomfort in the hustle and the masculine energy of business—what is it trying to tell you? Additionally, how might you be holding your business back by not listening?
By embracing self-awareness, you can uncover and overcome limiting beliefs, allowing your business to flourish authentically. Therefore, tune in to this episode of Inner Business to learn how to transform your business from the inside out.
