005: How Effective is Your Business Website?

How Hard does your Business Website work for you?

Every business needs a website that is:

  • Professional
  • Looks great
  • Introduces you to customers and shares your story
  • Tells customers what you do

Having your own business website means that you are a professional outfit and that helps to build kudos for you and your products/services

My Business Website sends a message that I know what I'm doing...

I can totally understand why that seems important to you. The appeal of a great looking website is strong.  First impressions certainly count and, if your website is going to represent you, it better be a good first impression.

There was a time when a website was where you took the information you’d normally place in a leaflet and pop in online.  A home page that shares your offerings and who you can be pretty standard.

The thing is.  It’s also not all that useful… to you or your customers

What is the purpose of your Business Website?

The purpose of most business websites is to help you collect leads and close sales.  These days, it’s rarely the first point of contact someone has with you.  They’ve probably seen you on social media, met you at an event or been sent to you by a friend.   Your website’s job is to do three things:

  1. Tell them what you do
  2. Show them how that will make a difference to their lives
  3. Show them how to work with you

The main focus of your site shouldn’t be YOU, your services or even the beauty of your design.

The focus should be your customer, their problem, their needs and how you help.

It's all in the connection to customer NOT the style

In fact, studies show that if a website follows some simple rules, it will convert more customers… even if it looks… well… a bit rough around the edges.

This is the first episode in a short series where Selena Woodward is going to explore your website copy.

In this episode of the Inner Business Selena shares some simple questions you can ask right now, about your website. Questions that will get you to see your site in a whole new light. (ooh a rhyme!)
